Sunset Jogger on Bali Beach

Rainy season typically arrives in Bali in November and lasts until April or so. This year, however, it seems to be dragging in here later than usual. This is a mixed blessing: Without the rains, Bali is rather more hot than usual. The gap between dry season and the beginning of the rains is generally agreed to be the least pleasant time of the year. (Mind you, we’re splitting hairs here as Bali weather at its worst is still better than many places!) However, despite the heat, there is one dramatic upside: Rainy season brings the most spectacular sunsets imaginable. I don’t know what it is, the region’s volcanoes spewing detritus into the air, or simply some change in the atmosphere, but whatever the cause we get sunsets in glorious technicolor. I send people photos, they think I’ve spent hours in PhotoShop making them this sexy. Nope. It’s just Bali…naturally beautiful.

Cool Casual Chic

mako

Off to another villa open house in a few minutes. This time we’re headed to Villa Mako. This villa has an interesting story: The owners are long time Bali afficionados. They lived here in the region, working out of, I believe Hong Kong (or Singapore?) and had considered building The Bali Dream Home for ages. Finally, though, they found an existing house on a great piece of land and decided to renovate — a virtually unheard of decision here. (They bought from Elite Havens, by the way!).

They went through a couple of developers before they found the right partner, but they eventually got it right. The result is lovely. It is really a tribute to perserverance, dedication to a vision and a job well done.

The photo, above is may favorite of the first set of images — I think because I know the place and to me this sort of casual, relaxed elegance totally describes the place. Makes you want to hang out there. Chill.

The property is managed by BHM and will now be open for rental. It will see it’s first commercial guests this Christmas. ’twere it I….

Lombok Bound?

Posted by Ric on Dec 5th, 2006

The villa market in neighboring Lombok seems to be showing some signs of life. Lombok has always been sort of Bali’s sleepy next door neighbor — with most people touching ground on the main island only long enough to hop a ferry to the Gilis. But, little by little the hotel scene has been growing and accommodations across the board improving. The airport’s inclusion on the list of destinations capable of granting visas on arrival kept the destination open as a possible first arrival point. Unfortunately the primary market for that service — Australia — has been less than lukewarm on the whole Indonesian experience for the last year or so.

So, with some suprise, I’ve been seeing several interesting villa properties emerge in the last couple of months. The new 18 hole golf course near the departure terminals for the Gilis is one factor and part of a growing trend towards providing luxury services.

Watch this space…

New Sales Website

Posted by admin on Nov 25th, 2006

Elite Havens has launched a dedicated sales website — named cleverly: EliteHavensSales.com. The site features not only their listings but also a fairly wide selection of information on the market and how the property business in general works in Bali.

Listings are extensive and include villas, property and developments. All the listings seem to include very good photography and quite a bit of information. EH has been a market leader in web technology here in Bali for years and this site continues that trend. Looking at the various porperty websites in the market, the EH site stands out; it’s attractive, easy to use and informative.

Visit the site and judge for yourself: www.elitehavenssales.com
